Week 1: Connor Patrick Kelley

Week 1: Connor Patrick Kelley The start of the Kelley Family blog really starts with the arrival of the little guy who made us a family! Here is the story of Connor's arrival and first week ;) Connor Patrick Kelley

Wednesday February 18, 2015
It started with excitement and nerves. Today we would be induced and our baby boy would arrive soon. Kevin and I figured it would take a while so we were prepared for a late night with the hopes of an early morning arrival.

Thursday February 19, 2015
Early morning as we were up most of the night. I was in labor and things were not progressing as fast as they should and others, my contractions were coming on quick. About 11:30am things got serious, my BP spiked and Connors heart rate dropped. The doctors decided to do an emergency C section. As there was not enough time to give me an epidural, I was put under and they delivered Connor at 12:11pm Our brave little boy had some air in his lung cavity and a nastily little cut behind the ear so he had a rough start. But dad was there to hold his hand and help him through while mom recovered. Once we were both recovered we finally got to meet. I was a little groggy, but it was still top moment of my life.

Friday February 20 - Sunday February 22
These days are kind of a blur. We actually did have a little routine down. Connor was in the NICU because of the air in his lungs so it was a bit of a jaunt from my recovery room. Kevin would wheel me over and we would nurse and bottle feed then head back to sleep, and back again for more feedings. Connor is definitely a good eater! On Sunday I was released but Connor had to stay in the NICU, Kevin and I could not beat to leave our little dude so we stayed overnight in his room. Connor was the biggest baby there. The babies there were so tiny and needed so much help. We were very blessed that Connor was doing well and really just needed time for his lungs to clear. We were able to hold, feed, change and stay with him. We did not know when he would be able to come home.

We also had our first visitors, Uncle Garrick and Aunt Bryn, Grandma and Grandpa Willhite, Uncle Chris and Aunt Karina. What a very blessed little boy!

Monday February 23
We were hopeful that Connor would be discharged, but were unsure. There was some back and forth with the doctor but we were given the all clear and we could go home!

Tuesday February 24 - Thursday February 26
Oh boy! First day at home...what the heck do we do with a baby! Kevin and I spent most of the time trying to figure out how to make a bottle, carry a baby, change a diaper quickly, and staring at our little baby. He is quite adorable, and yes we are biased.

More to come on week 2.
